Bringing it Down a Notch

Tomorrow I’m heading back to Beijing, and packing all my stuff to leave Italy is just making me really, really sad. Especially when every little thing just reminds me that it’s the last time I’ll be able to do it. So let’s bring it down a notch and introduce a band that has a little more down-tempo, hip-hop minimalism in their own electronic way. This collective band, made up of members from Bon Iver and Solid Gold to multiple rappers, is led by record producer Ryan Olson. GAYNGS really capture the type of nostalgic, echoing longing that I’m feeling right now without feeling depressed, with tracks like “The Gaudy Side of Town” and “Crystal Rope.” Their debut album Relayted releases on May 11… (but it has already leaked, shh.)
